Medical examinations: drivers, firearms and hunters

Official same-day certificates with no appointment needed: driving licence, firearms, hunting and nautical qualifications.

Medical examinations: drivers, firearms and hunters

Our drivers' medical centre in Torre del Mar is authorised to carry out the medical and psychotechnical certificates required by official bodies: obtaining and renewing driving licences, exchange of foreign driving licences, firearms and hunting licences, nautical qualifications, private security, crane operators, potentially dangerous animals and other official certificates. A team of medical professionals and psychologists evaluates your psychophysical fitness in a single visit, using psychotechnical equipment updated to current regulations, and handles all the processing.

In all of our reports, a valid DNI or NIE is accepted: we regularly assist foreign residents. And in three of them, a passport is also accepted: ownership of potentially dangerous animals, pleasure boats and fishing.

Renewing your driving licence

The medical examination includes completing your clinical record, assessing visual acuity, an audiometry test, and analysing motor skills and reflexes. Once the check-up is complete, we process all documentation with the Dirección General de Tráfico: you do not need to travel to the Provincial Traffic Headquarters. We issue you a temporary driving authorisation for Spain, valid for six months, and the DGT sends your renewed licence by post to your home address or, if you prefer, you can collect it at the medical centre itself at no extra cost.

You can renew your licence up to three months before it expires without losing any days of validity: the original expiry date is respected on the new licence. You also do not need to bring photographs, as we take them at the centre free of charge.

  • Renewal: Valid DNI or NIE and driving licence.
  • First-time issue: Valid DNI or NIE. The certificate is valid for 90 days.
  • Foreign licence exchange: Valid DNI or NIE and a valid driving licence from the country of origin.
  • Licence recovery due to loss of points: Valid DNI or NIE. This is the psychophysical fitness report required to recover your driving licence after losing points.

Medical certificate for firearms and hunting licences

We carry out the medical and psychological examinations that assess fitness to possess and use firearms and for the safe practice of hunting, in compliance with current regulations. You will need a valid DNI or NIE and, in the case of a renewal or endorsement, also the firearms licence that is about to expire. Once the examination is finished, the certificate is submitted to the armoury or the Guardia Civil to process the licence. We cover first-time applications and renewals for:

  • Type B Licence: handguns and revolvers.
  • Type C Licence: firearms for security and guarding staff.
  • Type D Licence: rifled long guns for big game hunting.
  • Type E Licence: target shooting weapons and hunting shotguns.
  • Type F Licence: firearms for use at firing ranges and shooting galleries.

Nautical medical certificate

To obtain or renew recreational nautical qualifications —navigation licence, Basic Navigation Skipper (PNB), Recreational Craft Skipper (PER), Yacht Master and Yacht Captain— a psychophysical medical certificate is required. With your valid DNI, NIE or passport, we issue the report immediately, valid for 90 calendar days, to be submitted to your registered nautical school.

Official medical certificates for public competitive examinations

To formalise an application for certain public administration examinations, a medical document certifying that your psychophysical health status is fit for work activity is required. You need a valid DNI or NIE and the official form —we have forms available at the centre itself—. The report is valid for three months and must be submitted to the workplace you are applying to.
